I loved this wine which was given to me by a friend. I ate it with a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich on white bread because I was really stressed late one night, and I wanted to have something good to eat and then CRASH. The strawberry jam was very good with the wine and the whole experience was comforting and indulgent. The next night, half a bottle of wine remained, having sat opened on my counter all night. The wine was STILL good with a burger I ordered in (rough week). For the record, when you’re single and you can’t and shouldn’t drink an entire bottle of wine every time you open one, it’s good to have a solid wine with firm tannins that will last 24 hours without turning into prune juice. I read multiple reviews (after I drank the wine) and the one I thought captured my feelings most closely was Robert Parker’s. Here it is, and I would emphasize the words, ‘Juicy and soft.’ I hope my friend brings another bottle of this.

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 la Tour Carnet has an earthy nose with tobacco and underbrush over a core of warm plums, kirsch and tea. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing, elegant, juicy and soft with a savory finish.
